It starts with the call.

This has been the year where I get that call. My couples I adore and have grown with are calling with news they have a baby on the way. It has been a delight to receive those calls, because it means that I get to keep being a part of their lives, with the most important job of capturing their memories and milestones. I literally get giddy when a bride calls me post wedding and says, “We need you again! Guess what?!”. Corey always knows when I get those calls, because it’s me, doing a victory lap around the house squealing in excitement! So, when that call came, and it was Tammy and Jonathan Foster, I nearly cried. After all that happened at the wedding, I knew, Tammy was ready. Folks, when a freaking tornado touches down a quarter mile from your wedding reception, one hour before go time, knocks out all power, and it’s an August wedding? Nerves of titanium this one. Having a kid? She got this. Jonathan’s easy going spirit plays a huge role as well in the confidence I have for both of them as first timers.

The best laid plans…

I’m sure you probably noticed the lack of maternity session. Little mister Thomas had a different plan for that session. Arriving nearly 6 weeks early, and scaring the daylights out of all of us, our planned maternity session was quickly punted into a newborn session. This darling, happy, healthy baby boy just could not wait to grace us with his presence! And just as I suspected, mom and dad took the whole thing in stride. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure there were absolute moments of terror. But the fact remains, they did it!

In home newborn baby sessions – this is why I do what I do!

I always give my first timers the option to do the newborn session in home. There are a multitude of reasons to do to. When baby needs a diaper change, or new clothes, or to nurse? It’s right there. Thomas’ session was no exception. I packed up the car, and made it to Hockley for amazing company and even cuter smiles. The bowl is a family tradition. All babies and grandbabies have been photographed in the bowl. As you can see, Thomas has his own opinion of the tradition, and the flashing lights. 🙂 I brought along the nautical setup, the turquoise crate, the positioners to prop him up, and they supplied the elephant. And an adorable pachyderm it is!! Thomas supplied the smiles and all the amazing expressions he brings to a shoot. I hope you enjoy his smiles as much as I do.

Here’s Thomas!!
