When you put God before a wedding
It’s safe to say, Chris is the man Katherine had prayed for. Chris is the man, we had all prayed for. We didn’t know it yet, but he was. When Katherine and I would stay up, talking about our futures and dreams in college, we knew who we were looking for. We had him worked out in our happy little naive college girl brains. He would be sweet. Romantic but not sappy. Dozens of qualities littered the pages of our qualifications, but the one thing that stuck out, especially for Katherine, was faith. He had to have a relationship with Christ more important than any other relationship. So important was this, she was willing to wait till she found it. In the mean time, she found someone else, who turned out to be my husband, Corey. Now, 13 years later, Corey and I still laugh about the phone call she orchestrated, asking me to talk to him because he was lonely, while telling him to call me because of a breakup. We were played. And it worked. So when she messaged me that she wanted me to meet someone, I was ready. Katherine and I had a habit of trying to run a man off. With Corey, when I couldn’t shake him, we knew he was it. So the call she found someone signaled me that we were trying, again, to run someone off. Chris, I am glad you made it my friend.
To have, to hold, even in a galaxy far, far away
I love a good wedding with a theme. Don’t get me wrong, weddings without them are amazing too. But when there is an undercurrent that ties things together in the background, I absolutely love it. The subtle theme here? Posh, uptown, Star Wars. Yes, you read that right. Star Wars. From the accents for the bride and groom, to sparkler send off, It was magical. The wedding ceremony took place at Houston’s First Baptist Church. The wedding reception was held at the Houston City Club. Getting to see the first dance, up in an among the downtown sky scrapers gave this reception a dancing on clouds kind of feel. It was bliss. Absolute bliss. Each table carried a centerpiece of literary works and trinkets that represented the couple’s lives. It was elegance, grace, and simplicity in the very best way.
