I’m back, with this, the second part to their fabulous two-part engagement shoot (see part 1 here) In college, Katherine and I would escape our studies and go to places to visit her family. One place in particular that was exceptionally welcoming as a mini retreat of sorts was affectionately known as “Grandmamma’s House” or simply “Narnia”. A brief look at the pictures explains without words why this place has such a fantasy based name. True, we could locate similar spots for future shoots, but having them all in one location, in addition to the nostalgic sentiment of this particular spot, meant both a trip down memory lane, and a journey into a new chapter of life. Narnia. I felt like the Hollywood photographers taking shots of places you and I might never venture to. Each shutter click guided me deeper into both the magic this place holds, the memories we cherished here, and the absolute closeness Chris and Katherine shared the entire time. I once told her, “I felt like I was intruding a bit, like looking in on a private moment between you two. Then I reminded myself, you asked me to, so it must be ok…” HAHA! I brought the frame from our first shoot, and a chalkboard of my own this time, and with a bit of cooperation from the sun and a quick trip to Starbucks, we were set. Just in case you are wondering…. the answer is no. I did NOT Filter-Render-Lens Flare (aka photoshop) the sun into that spot. Sometimes, the Good Lord simply allows the perfect rays of sunlight to pierce a tree at exactly the right angle for a photographer like me to contort their body into ungodly positions and place said photographic gift in just the right spot. I would do it all again. It was so worth it. Don’t you agree?
