Truth be told, I had the pictures selected and edited far before I finished writing this piece, because how do you describe the sheer joy of knowing someone through and through, and finally getting to witness them finding the love of their life? Poets have tried, songs have fallen short, actors have longed, but words fail experiencing that moment. The moment you know she found the one before she knows it. I had a unique position in this shoot. I have known Katherine all of my adult life, and we have had quite the adventures together. This shoot was to be nothing short of a chronicle of those adventures to some extent. For me, it was an additional vetting process for Chris, without him really knowing it too (sorry Chris). Watching how he reacted, watching how he looked at her, and watching how he took even my craziest requests. He humored them all, and even threw in his own ideas. I was floored, and Katherine’s admiration radiated in the images as a result. Many looks of “he’s really mine!” and “I get to keep her the rest of my life” exchanged over the double shoot (part two coming next) and I couldn’t be happier! I brought along the barn-wood frame, and they picked up small chalkboards to write on as well. Toss in a Jetty, and the Pleasure Pier in the background, and the rest is just amazing.
